Red Carpet Royalty: The 79th Annual Academy Awards

Oscar brought out the Black Star Power last night as predicted:

And Forest Whitaker and our CGU President YBF chick Jennifer Hudson copped the Best Actor and Best Supporting Actress awards. Much deserved.

So lovely. And this dress of Jenny's was her best of the night. On to all the red carpet fabulousness....

Even though Eddie didn't win his Best Supporting Actor category, he and Tracy looked fabulous on the carpet. They both rocked Versace Couture. His face finally was moveable and her hair was finally done in an updo. Loved it. By the way...that's mirrors (not openings) on her dress. And yes, it's a good look.

Queen Latifah was one of the few celebs who didn't rock the new spring light but not quite white it colors of the spring season. But she still looked ultra feminine and fab. She rocked a Fendi clutch, Chopard diamonds, and a Carmen Marc Valvo dress.

Quincy Jones decided not to bring his damn near teenaged girlfriend:

He brought along his daughter Rashida instead.

Beyonce stuck to her usual extra flowy and overly accessorized style of dress:

The dress is actually mint green with a stoned strap. She pulls it off...but it's not my fave look. The dress is Armani and her hair and makeup were definitely on point.

Tanika Ray

I really need to know if Spikey's wife is Supahead's unclaimed sister.

Is it just me or does Keisha Whitaker's fabulousness upgrade her husband's fab factor?

The back of that dress is hot and she looked absolutely gorgeous. The dress designer is Georges Chakra. Her husband looked quite dapper as well. Lovely couple.

And Ms. Jenny-

I must admit. I was disappointed as soon as the camera hit her outfit on that red carpet. Damn that Andre Leon Tally! The gold jacket just pissed me off and killed the whole look. But the Oscar De La Renta dress itself, the Manolos, and her stand alone fabulousness made up for the foolishness.

Now Ms. Anika on the other hand....

She aint letting y'all forget she's 1/3 of the Dreamgirls crew...Michelle Williams treatment and all. She looked hella fab and worked that dress and those $500,ooo Stuart Weitzman diamond shoes. Anika's my runner up to Best Dressed of the night.

J-Lo looked like a Grecian goddess in Marchesa and I loved it:

Gorgeous.

I'm mad at John Singleton for coming on the red carpet soley to promote one of his no name up and coming actors. Boo.

Keith Robinson looked cute. The silver tie on the simple black tux is definitely a good look.

Mr. Djimon Hounsou lost out for Best Supporting Actor but still looked quite sexy on that red carpet:

He's come a long way since Janet's "Love Will Never Do Without You" and Paula's "Straight Up" vids. Funny funny. And no, he didn't come there with Camron Diaz on his arm.

The Smith family came with the fabulousness as usual:

Jada looked gorgeous in her Carolina Herrera gown.

Chris Gardner and Will Smith

Spanish beauty Penelope Cruz is my Best Dressed pick of the night:

She wore a fabulous Versace dress (which I think looked better on tv). Elegant, glam, and perfectly fitted. Loves it.

Shaun Robinson

All was well on the red carpet. Stay tuned for after party pics and pics and performances from the show.
